St. Timothy's Episcopal Church Littleton, CO

St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Centennial Colorado has a very diverse and well developed Music Program and an Organ has always been a vital musical component. When the old organ failed, this left a big void in the accompaniment for worship and choral singing. Other community musical groups also use this church and the organ for concerts and programs; so St. Timothy’s began looking for a new instrument to provide a wide range of tonal texture for accompaniment and large tonal resources for recital and concert literature.

The location of the Choir Singers was always an issue for the old organ. Because they are located to the far east-side of the church, the singers could not hear pitch or keep in time with the accompaniment from an organ located across and some distance away. A separate Division was needed behind the Choir.  It was also difficult to move the old console due to the massive size of two umbilicals that connected the console to the organ. A new organ needed to address these tonal and physical challenges.

After listening to organs and in consultation with trusted organists, the church chose Church Organ Works Inc to provide a new customized Johannus 4-manual Ecclesia D-570. The new organ is 81-Stops, 94-Ranks in 5-Divisions. The Main Organ’s Pedal, Great, Swell and Choir Divisions speak from two pipe facades now located at the front of the church. The Solo Division with Bombarde and Ethereal Stops speak from the rear Gallery chamber.  The Organ’s sound can now address the church down its “axis” both from the front and rear for excellent ensemble and effect.

The solution for the Choir Singers, allows the entire Choir Division, along with its 16’ Pedal Stop, to speak from a secondary location behind the singers, improving pitch, timing and accompaniment. Additionally, Orchestral Bells, Chimes, Harp, even a B-3 with Leslie, and many other voices can also speak from this location.

The 4-manual console is mounted on a rolling 2-piece platform so the console can easily be relocated anywhere required. Connection from console to organ systems is by a single tactical Cat-6 cable, eliminating any large cabling.

With 4-tonal styles, this formidable new organ is suitable for any repertoire desired.
